Elite assassin and spy Zara Blackwater, known professionally as "Nyx", lives by one rule: trust no one. When she's assigned to protect Victor Rothwell, the CEO of Aegis Corp, a company with a sinister reputation, she expects it to be tedious and boring, maybe even a little holiday from her usual high octane work. What she doesn't expect is to find herself drawn to a man whose idealism not only surprises her but should disgust her.
Victor has spent years trying to repair the reputation of Aegis Corp while still maintaining its dominance in the city. When assassination attempts force him to accept protection from what seems to be a stone-cold killer, he discovers an unlikely ally in his fight against corporate corruption.
From the shadows, the ever present ghost known only as Chameleon watches. Victor's childhood friend and secret weapon in his private war, they are a shape-shifter who's changed faces and bodies so many times they've forgotten their original identity. Chameleon's loyalty to Victor is the only constant in their fractured existence.
As corporate conspiracies unravel and long-buried secrets resurface, these three form a dangerous alliance. In a world where life is cheap and loyalty is rare, they must decide what they're willing to sacrifice — for survival, for redemption, and perhaps even for love.
